Love Shot - The 5th Album Repackage EXO

This review is only going to be on the first three songs added to the album.

DISCLAIMER: All of my reviews are from my perspective. The review may not be what others perceive it to be, however for this is my own blog about my perception on music. Thank you for my public announcement.

Love Shot

Please forgive me, for when I said that Ooh La La La was the Eve of this year, I was incredibly wrong. The Eve can be seen dead in a ditch compared to Love Shot. Even the dance to this catchy song crowns itself on top of The Eve. And trust me, this song will get stuck inside of your head. I am not going to do a review based on meaning for this song, but instead mention elements of the song.

Related imageIn the beginning, the sound of headphones playing music is subtle in the back, suddenly on the first verse the sound becomes clear, as if you are putting the headphones on. We say hello again to rapper Xiumin (first on the left, cover image) in the third verse of the song. Love Shot's album is helping bring justice to the line distributions, however they do still have their flaws, it is a nice line distribution. With D.O. (second on the left, cover image) and Baekhyun (second on the right, dance image) taking over most of the lines in this song, their voices guide the member's voices for the elegant chorus.
In the chorus of the song, it is made-up of the members' voices. On the beats 'na nana nanana,' the members sing in unison; of course there is one member whose voice is louder than the others, but it is all of the members in the end. With the dance added with this song, each beat is made perfectly to put it's name up on the charts with The Eve and Artificial Love

Trauma

Written by popular composer for SM Entertainment, Cho Yun-kyung, Trauma tells a story of a man who has gone through hell and back. He has memories that he wishes to forget, past things that have hurt him deeply, and all he does is wish for a freedom. Cho Yun-kyung has written many popular songs by EXO that have deeper meanings to them. Songs like Lady Luck, Diamond, Call Me Baby, Exodus, and many other loved songs by SM Entertainment artists.

Even with Xiumin, Chen, and Kai's "la la las" it makes the listener want to move to the beat instead of deeper meaning. With the first line, the fans can tell that this song has a deep meaning. It starts off with D.O. and Baekhyun's line saying, "The long-lived villain in my heart, Who pierced my heart countless times, My memories a guideline, To the brutality to be imposed on me." With Suho's line after, listeners hear the true meaning to why this song is called Trauma. "Once I am about to forget, it comes again." The song has a break at 2:10 into "lalas" to change to the rap part in 2:19. The rap part is lead by Park Chanyeol and Oh Sehun, who execute this part elegantly. This part introduces faster claps and snaps. It fades after to go back to the original beat and steady claps at 2:45. At the end of the song, it is ended with Kai's "lalas" and a beautiful harmony with the rest of the members in the background softly.

Wait

Image result for wait exoThe strumming strings of the guitar really brings this song to life. It allows the listener to understand the feeling of waiting. The patient, calm feeling of the guitar is what brings this out the most; of course, with the addition of the A Capella background. Wait is a song that will probably added to the list with Sing For You, Baby Don't Cry, and other softer songs when EXO do their A Capella moments at their concert. With it's perfect melody.

Wait is a short four minute song, that seems to be about a boy who is waiting for their lover to come back to them in the cold of winter. This fits perfectly with the timing of this song, since EXO-L's did not get a winter album, Wait seems to be a representation for that. It perfectly represents the limits EXO-L's go through when they stan EXO. Fans have waited all year for this album to drop, and even a representation on how they will continue to wait through each member's enlistments coming up. This song actually makes me want to put it in the category with Smile On My Face and Promise.

For me personally, this has to be my favorite song out of the three main added songs.

I have decided not to do the review on Love Shot Chinese Version.

When looking at the lyrics, it was the same meaning, so I would be repeating myself on this song.
