Thank U, Next is a deep and heartfelt song. It has a sad connotation, but also a happy one. The song has a different light for singers, when singing about their exes. Ariana decides to thank all of her exes by name, telling each of them a quality she learned when she was with them. However, in the end, Ariana comes to the decision that through all of this, the thing she really needs to focus on is herself. As mentioned, it is a sweet, yet sad song that shines a new light on exes.
